Dear Mr Lawson

Thank you for bringing road safety to the attention of the
Commissioner. May I also apologise for the long delay in responding
due to an unexpectedly high volume of correspondence received.
The Commissioner is keen to 'protect people and places' and has
included road safety in the police and crime plan. This may take a
variety of forms from ensuring vehicles are road worthy to community
speed watch. The Commissioner recently met with the Roads Policing
Unit to better understand how its work helps to keep the people of
Hampshire and Isle of Wight safe.

If you have a specific concern in your area it would be great if you
could make contact with your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team who may
be able to help. For example one of the priorities for Eastleigh
Central Team is safer roads, if you were to click on the priority it
would provide details of the work they are under taking in the local
community on this matter. Details of your local team can be found by
visiting the Hampshire Constabulary website at
www.hampshire.police.uk
and typing your postcode into the home page . There is the safer roads
pages which may also be of interest.

I do hope this demonstrates the Commissioner's commitment on this
important matter.
