Dear Members

A November catch up

First of all we hope that you can all make the AGM on 25th November 7.30 at Carisbrooke Village Hall. This will be a  time  for us to gather together to find out about what has happened over the last year as well as an opportunity to identify next year’s  plans.  We have various people lined up to talk to us including Stewart Chandler from IWC who is the Highways and Transport Client Manager and Keert and their exciting cargo bike work. Refreshments and a raffle will be available. What more could you want? If you could offer a prize for the raffle that would be brilliant. Do drop us a line to let us know of your generosity.

The Wider of the Rider campaign carries on with posters now to be seen on bus stops. Once again if you see one please take a picture and send it to us.

As budgets are being drawn up for 2023/24 please do let us know of barriers on paths you would like  to see removed. We need to make a submission in December.

Some of you may have seen about a new housing development in Cowes. We have commented on the planning application and have been asked to share our views with Cowes Town Council.

Linked to the above it was great to be able to refer to the Cowes LCWIP in our submission. This along with the LCWIP for E. Wight, which are  now both in their draft form, do give our comments a much better chance of success in improving infrastructure to make cycling and walking easier.

Finally Cycling Uk have asked its affiliated members  (you) to write to your MP to highlight the need to maintain the Active Travel budget in these difficult times. You can find more details here. Please take a few minutes to write something. Do send us your reply from Bob Seely.

We hope to see you at the end of the month.
